Bee-lieve

There is quite a bit of buzzing going around at Deedee's Digis!  I just had to share a card I made today and also let you in on the news!!!!

First the news:  Deedee's Digi's has a new store!  Yep, you can get there from the Deedee's Digis blog and you just have to check it out because there are freebies and a great sale going on right now to celebrate the new store!

Since there is such a great buzz going on - I just had to make a bee themed card today!  LOL!!  I used the image and sentiment from a set titled "Bee-lieve".  You can see the whole set below.  The sketch is the weekly Deconstructed Sketch (#153) and everything on the card came from the stash.....the embossing piece was sent to me as an RAK from SCS.  I colored the image with markers.  I liked the flowers just with the tinge of yellow center and pink with the white edges of the petals....thought about coloring them with a lighter color pink to the edge but really liked how it looked with the white.

This is the whole set:

Celebrations!

Today is a double duty post....two design teams posting showing two celebrations!

First up is the new challenge at Pattie's Creations Design Challenge.  The theme is Birthdays - what a great thing to celebrate!!  So often we get hung up on that number - especially if that number is getting higher and higher - LOL!!  But it's just that - a number.  It's a great time to celebrate life and celebrate all that has been accomplished - and look forward to what the next year has to bring.

For my card I used "Large Heart Quilted" for the main image and then a little Happy Birthday stamp I had (I think it might even be a little Studio G stamp but who knows).  The papers were part of my stash as is the piece of ribbon.  Last weekend I went through all my buttons and separated them by color - so of course I had to use them!  LOL!!

Next up for today is the Mid-Challenge Inspiration at Kitty Bee Designs Aloha Challenge.  The theme is Congrats/Graduation.  Our sponsor is Bugaboo Stamps.  I chose to use  Ava Grad Diploma  This card is already in the hands of the recipient.  Our niece graduated from Nursing School this month and we couldn't be more proud of her!

For the card I chose to use red because her graduation party was red and white.  Once again the papers are from my stash.  The "Congrats" stamp is one that I had on hand - I have no idea what company it is.

Girly / Feminine

Confession:  I'm not really a "Girly / Feminine" type of gal.  I wouldn't consider myself a tom-boy type - but I'm not the girlie-girl either.  That even applies to my cards I think....I don't do a lot of lace or things like that.  It's not that I dislike it cause I love seeing it cards - it's just that when I try it - well, it just never turns out looking right.  LOL!!

The new challenge at Digistamps4Joy is "Girly / Feminine" - but the neat thing is that it doesn't have to be frilly to be considered girly or feminine.  LOL!.  I used an image called Rain Dance.  I colored it with markers and then used papers from my stash to layer it up.  The image and mat is cut with a Spellbinders Nestie.

DAD

Today is Memorial Day.  It's a time to remember those who served our country.  One person who did serve our country during the Korea Conflict was my dad.  While he didn't see combat, he was drafted and served his country.  Dad passed away in 1991, but he will forever be in my heart.  Today's card is in honor of my dad.

For this card I used the set from Deedee's Digi's called "Not A Tie".  The set is the featured Set of the Month and can be purchased for $1.25 in the store.  If you purchase the set and enter the monthly challenge (ending June 1st), you will get the next months set of the month for FREE!

I colored the image with Spectrum Noir markers and then just used some scraps of paper for layering.  The inside sentiment is also part of the set:

Here is the whole set:

Isn't it cute?  And what a deal - outline images, pre-colored images, white filled layering images and sentiments!  WOW!!!

Fill Your Boots

Ah, it was a comedy of errors with my card today.  Have you ever had something in mind when you started and ended up with something completely different?  That's what happened to me here.  I knew what image I wanted to use - Deedee's Digis "Happy Trails" set - and I knew I wanted to use kraft for a main color.  Everything was going along just fine - I cut my image out using a Spellbinders Nestie....had the pieces/parts of paper cut...and then I thought "hey - why not go over the image with a very light tan ink to sort of distress it".  So I did....and then I realized that my idea of "light tan" turned out to be more of the kraft color so my layer piece blended right into the image piece!  Fortunately I had a extra white one cut out from another time and that worked. Of course then what do I do about coloring the image....so I used some blue ink and a darker "tan" to sort of just go over the seams.  The stash came in real handy on this card too - I had this wood "flag" that I never knew what to do with - and the "counting the ways" sticker fit perfectly on it!  Here's the final project:

Look at how cute this set is:

Need a hug?

Sometimes you just need hug....and sometimes you just have to offer a hug.  This card today offers a hug in the form of a card.  :)  The image is a Doodle Pantry image as is the sentiment.  The papers are just those that I had in my stash.

Playing Dress Up

Remember years (and years....and years...and years...LOL!!!) ago when we used to spend the afternoons playing instead of working?  Did you ever get into your moms closet and play dress up?  I never did but I did enjoy getting into her jewelery.  My mom wore those big broach/pins or beads.  Fortunately they didn't have any value because I did break a few strands of her beads in my time.

This week at The Crafter's Cafe our theme is "Girly" and the image I used took me back to time - even the image is called "Playing Dress Up" (Guylou's Digital Stamps).  I was also able to use some glitter tape that I never know what to do with - LOL!  I love using up my stash!!!

Hibiscus

There's this bright yellow thing in the sky.  I think I vaguely remember it but it's been so long since I've seen it....oh, wait, I remember...it's the SUN!  Can you believe it - we have had a day without rain and the sun is shining!  Ok, I know it's still only 2:45pm and it still could rain sometime today but at least it's been really nice out so far!

Since it's bright and sunny out (even though it's still cool), I thought I would share a bright floral card with you today.  I love Hibiscus flowers!  They are so bold - large and colorful!  Now I can't grow them but I do appreciate those who can...but at least I can have the image right?

Deedee's Digi's has a beautiful set called "Bloom and Grow",  I used the Hibiscus flower from the set and colored it with Spectrum Noir & Bic Sharpie markers.  Of course I had to do a Google search to find images of Hibiscus flowers to pick a color pattern I wanted.  Now I'm the first to admit that my coloring skills are not the best.  Others can do such pretty shading but I'm just more a basic color type person.  But I really do like how the red and yellow merged on this.  I first colored the yellow stamen and outside petal edges with a Sharpie - then the red with the Spectrum Noir.  Once I was done, I went back over the edges where the yellow and red met with the Sharpie and tried to pull some of the red into the yellow.  To my surprise - some actually did pull!  While my coloring isn't the best, my photography is even worse - LOL! - so the pic isn't the best...but trust me, it did pull some and I like the effect.

Now you have to check out the whole set from Deedee's Digis:

Isn't that a wonderful set??!!  If you like that one - you should check out her other sets!!!  (But be prepared to want one of everything...LOL!).  While I am talking about Deede's Digi's - did you know that there is a monthly challenge?  And guess what?  It's using a featured set every month - but once you participate and with the feature set - you get the next month's set FREE!  What a deal huh?

One of those days....

Murphy's Law.  Yes - yesterday it was in full swing!  Did you ever just have one of those days where you just almost want to stand in one spot and not move a muscle or talk to a single soul for fear that something else could happen?  Yesterday was that day for me.  The day itself wasn't bad - it was rather uneventful to be honest.  But when I got home - oh boy.  Pulled open the kitchen drawer and the whole face of the drawer come off.  Then opened the freezer to get some ice only to find the ice melted...and everything in the freezer ruined....and our fridge is going out.  Ok, it is out but it's still plugged in....hopefully today we can get a new one.  I'll have to call mom to the rescue this morning to come and rescue the food in the fridge before it goes bad.  What would we do without our moms.

But enough of that - today is a new day.  And it's also time for a new challenge at Digistamps4Joy!  Our theme is "Anything Goes".  How easy is that!  Believe me - after yesterday I need something easy.  LOL!!!

I used the image called Spring Time.  I embossed the base with Swiss Dots and just used a piece of paper from my stash for the layer and turquoise strip and kept with the whole dot theme with the paper and ribbon.  The ribbon was a leftover piece form the stash as well.

Saturday - a day of relaxing and crafting

I love days like this.  There was a ton of things to do today.  This morning I was able to meet a friend for breakfast at Panera and it was so nice to just visit and spend time with someone who....get's me.  Does that make sense?  This friend is such a blessing in my life and I value her so much.  When we get together we talk about everything from our jobs to our family to our faith to stamping.  It's so natural and comfortable.

After lunch and a couple errands I was able to spend an hour or so in my craft room.  I took the computer and listened to K-LOVE on iHeartRadio.

The first card I made is one I really enjoyed making and love how it turned out.  I was looking at the challenge blogs for inspiration and found a neat sketch on Unscripted Sketches (#256) then at Clear it Out Challenge the theme was "What's Your Style"....and Twisted Tuesday was black, white, and one other color.....  So I found a verse and an embossed piece of card stock that was sent to me as an RAK on SCS.  Add one color - red - and some bling.....and this is what I came up with:

This card is being entered in the following challenges:

The other card I made is just pure fun!  I love the image and inside the card is a Bible verse (part of the set).  It also shows one of my favorite embellishments - buttons.

And before I leave you today I have to share a picture of my "baby"....I couldn't find him and wondered where he was.....well of course he was laying on my purse!

Ribbit-Ribbit!

Happy Saturday!!!  It's been raining here in Ohio and I'm sure that is making all the ducks and Canada geese very happy...as well as the frogs!  So with that in mind I used "Froggie Lillypad" for my Design Team Spotlight card over at Kitty Bee DesignsKitty Bee Designs are fun little critter images that are so easy to use!  I colored my frog with Spectrum Noir markers and then used some papers I had on hand in my stash.  His heart is colored in with Stickles.

Double Duty: KittyBee Aloha Friday & Carriers of Faith Blog Hop

It's FRIDAY!  YAY!!!  And it's an exciting Friday too.  My post is doing double duty today - not only is it "Aloha Friday Challenge" at KittyBee Designs, but it's a blog hop for Carriers of Faith.  Who would have thought I could make one card to fit both.

The theme for our Aloha Friday challenge is "Scraps - use 3 or more scraps" and our sponsor is Doodle Garden.  I used an image called "Moon Baby".  My three scraps are the 2 papers and then also the ribbon piece.  And I must confess that even the card base was a scrap piece I had laying around.  Love using those scraps!  Be sure to come over and play with us!

Now for the Carriers of Faith blog hop, you should have arrived here from Jeanette's blog (I love her blog!).  Now if you've been following the hop you will know that there should be a letter at Jeanette's blog.....Jeanette is busy right now and has not had a chance to post for the blog hop - but her letter is "M".   Kelly is our hostess for May and this was her challenge:

Scripture: "Let the redeemed of the Lord tell their story —  those he redeemed from the hand of the foe..." ~ Psalm 107:2

This month, create a card/project/scrapbook page/picture based on the scripture above and what the meaning you pull from that is. Tell us your story! What speaks to your heart? What gifts do you have that you give to others as part of a fellowship - do you read, pray, write, create, walk, sing? There are so many parts in each of us ~ what part of your story are you sharing with others? As an added bonus but not required!! Please use the color GREEN {my VERY favorite color!}somewhere on your card to represent newness, growth, the blossoming of nature around us and the blooming friendships we have!

So my story.....well, I'm not really sure what would be.  As to what speaks to my heart - many things do....and as for gifts - well honestly, I don't think I have many at all.  But I do love people and I do love the Lord.  One of the things that I do to share my heart is to make cards for our local Pregnancy Center.  They are Pro-Life organization and do all they can to help families, new moms - young and old, new dads, and of course - those little lives.  I don't think I do enough - but cards are what I can give and for now that has to be enough.

My card does represent newness and growth because of course - it's a baby!  And while it's not a "Kelly Green" - pun intended  - I did use a teal green.

One thing that we, as cardmakers, can do to share our hearts and our faith is to send the cards we make....do you?  I certainly do!

Now - if you've been following the blog hop, you know that I'm supposed to give you a letter...and that letter is "E".  Be sure to follow the blog through and collect all the letters for a special word - you could be the winner of a very special prize!!!

Thanks for spending some time with me today....you're next stop will be April....ENJOY!!!!!
